On February 26, 2022 over 140 walkers braved the cold and walked with Choices for Youth (CFY) virtually in support of Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) and supporting young people in the community. We hosted a virtual walk this year to keep our participants safe during the ongoing pandemic, while following recommend Public Health guidelines -- our participants co-mitt-ed, and walked it out with their official CNOY toques on one of the coldest days of the year.
The Coldest Night of the Year is an annual fundraising initiative hosted by CFY with the aim to raise awareness of youth experiencing various forms of homelessness in the community. The event encourages the local community to come together, make teams, set goals, and walk 2 km to 5 km in an effort to fundraise that provides the continuation of much needed programs and supports for young people who are at-risk.
The virtual event was a great success with support from walkers, donors, sponsors and CFY staff! Although we have not yet reached our fundraising goal yet, we are optimistic that we will get there within the next few days! To say thanks for doing this toque-gether, we wanted to highlight the top walkers and top teams from this years event:
The 2022 event was CFY's most successful walk to date, showing that when we come together, even virtually, as a community, we can do amazing things. Thank you for the continued support of Choices for Youth and the young people we serve to help unlock their potential; your supported doesn't go unnoticed.
Couldn't make it to the event this year? Mark your calendars because we're walking again on February 25, 2023! To see what the walk looked like this year, watch this brief video prep video from our Fund Development and Communications Team!
