Choices for Youth Inc. (CFY) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable youth in overcoming the unique barriers they face, enabling them to build brighter futures. Through a combination of pre-employment training, youth development programs, and our expanding social enterprise initiatives, CFY is committed to empowering young people by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and support they need to thrive. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking one (1) full-time Training and Education Coordinator to join our dynamic Employment, Education, and Social Enterprise (EESE) team until June 6, 2025 (with a possibility of extension).
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of youth by developing, coordinating, and enhancing training and education programs that directly contribute to their personal and professional growth. You will work closely with our Social Enterprise Leads and Support Team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, youth-focused training initiatives. This is a key position within our organization, helping to shape the future of our training programs while advancing CFY’s mission.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Central Support Role: Act as the main point of contact for CFY’s entire training portfolio, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration between Social Enterprise Leads, Support Teams, and other key stakeholders.
Program Design and Strategy: Partner with internal teams to develop comprehensive, youth-centered training programs that meet clear objectives, address the diverse needs of participants, and align with CFY’s overall mission. Collaborate in the creation of strategies to assess and measure success.
Training Program Optimization: Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of existing training programs, identifying opportunities for improvements and adjustments to enhance program impact, engagement, and overall outcomes for youth participants.
Partnership Development: Establish and maintain strong relationships with educational institutions, community organizations, and local businesses to create new opportunities for youth skills development and employment advancement.
Data-Driven Program Management: Use data and analytics to assess the performance of training programs, adjusting strategies based on insights and outcomes. Ensure programs are meeting the identified youth development goals.
Youth-Centric Focus: Collaborate with the EESE Manager, Social Enterprise Leads, and the Support Team to ensure all training initiatives are aligned with the career aspirations of CFY’s youth participants and also integrated with harm reduction strategies and trauma-informed practices.
Reporting & Accountability: Provide regular updates to the EESE Manager on program performance, youth outcomes, partnership developments, and other key metrics. Maintain accurate records and data on training progress and results.
Flexibility and Innovation: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to the evolving needs of the organization and the youth we serve, continuously improving and adjusting training strategies as necessary[HM1] .
Training Facilitation: Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions for youth, delivering engaging and impactful instruction on key topics including life skills, job readiness, financial literacy, mental health awareness, and personal development.
KEY DUTIES
Identify and Develop Training Opportunities: Lead efforts to expand and enhance education and pre-employment training opportunities, with a particular focus on CFY’s social enterprise programs and skill development initiatives.
Coordinate and Manage Training Programs: Oversee the day-to-day operations of training initiatives, ensuring that all programs are delivered efficiently and in alignment with industry standards and best practices.
Budget and Program Planning: Assist in managing the financial aspects of training programs, including budget creation and monitoring to ensure alignment with broader departmental goals.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Participate in weekly leadership meetings and work closely with Social Enterprise Leads and other team members to ensure smooth communication and coordination across the EESE team.
Community & Partner Engagement: Foster collaborative partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to support shared training initiatives and exchange best practices.
Data Collection & Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely data collection, tracking, and reporting on program outcomes, participant progress, and key performance indicators.
Team Leadership: Lead the Training and Education team by establishing clear objectives, defining best practices, and setting high-performance standards. Provide continuous support to team members, foster a culture of professional growth, and ensure ongoing development opportunities to enhance skills and expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Undergraduate degree or diploma in Education, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field. Additional coursework or experience in Training and Development, Social Enterprise, or Employment Services is considered an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly youth, is highly valued.
Previous experience in program coordination, educational management, or training development is preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively to diverse audiences.
Familiarity with program management principles, including budgeting, data analysis, and evaluation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; familiarity with data management systems is an asset.
Experience facilitating group learning in diverse and dynamic environments, fostering an inclusive atmosphere that encourages collaboration, engagement, and mutual growth.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) certification.
Successful completion of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
WORK HOURS
The position will work 35 hours per week and flexibility in work hours will be required to accommodate youth and program needs and to accommodate higher work volumes and organizational requirements.
COMPENSATION
The salary for this position is $63,772.80-$71,334.00 annually. Choices for Youth offers a competitive compensation package, including a health and dental program, employer-matched RRSP, and four weeks’ vacation to qualifying employees.
