Choices for Youth Inc. (CFY) is a professional service, youth-focused, non-profit, charitable organization that creates spaces and conversations, and operates programs and social enterprises to help vulnerable youth secure stable housing, employment, and education while improving health and family stability. With a focus on prevention, intervention, and support, we help youth, and their families break cycles of poverty and homelessness and transition to healthy, stable, and independent lives.
CFY is seeking to hire one (1), full-time, permanent, Fund Development Coordinator to join our Fund Development and Communications team, which oversees all aspects of communications, marketing, and fundraising for CFY and provides support to all programs and social enterprises at CFY.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Fund Development and Communications Manager, the Fund Development Coordinator will play a key role in supporting CFY’s grant, philanthropic and fundraising initiatives; engaging our donors, supporters, volunteers and staff through events; creating engaging and compelling content for various audiences; and analyzing and researching market trends to determine CFY’s fundraising focuses each year. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and in a team environment. They will need to be able to effectively delegate tasks and collaborate on fundraising campaigns, events, and other initiatives with other members of the Fund Development and Communications team, and with other staff across the organization.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Overseeing a team of 1-3 employees, including a combination of full-time employees and consultants.
Leading CFY’s grant portfolio (restricted and unrestricted)
Overseeing CFY’s donor stewardship strategy
Writing, reviewing, editing and/or submitting grant applications.
Completing grant reports
Managing CFY’s donor platform
Completing CFY’s tax receipting
Working with the Manager of Fund Development and Communications to establish a long-term fund development strategy
Supporting operations of current development strategies as well as leading implementation of new strategies
Engaging with stakeholders, community funders, and philanthropic partners
Researching and determining viability for new fundraising initiatives
Supporting and contributing to existing fundraising campaigns and events
Building new community partnerships to grow fundraising events portfolio
Managing activities within allocated fundraising events budgets
Representing CFY in public speaking engagements and community events
Seeking out and attend community building events that align with organizational values
Nurturing and contribute to the unique culture of the organization
Helping to foster a social justice approach among colleagues
Other duties as required
REQUIRED SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS
Proven grant writing skills
Ability to oversee a team
Detail orientated and quick problem-solving abilities
Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and flexibility towards change
Exceptional time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Proven relationship building skills
Demonstrated ability to support and/or lead events
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary degree in business, communications, marketing, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experiences may be considered
A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in event planning, fundraising, communications, marketing, or business development
Experience with successful grant writing and reporting
Experience with tax receipting and knowledge of CRA requirements
Experience working with donors, strategic partners, and sponsors
Experience with presentations, public speaking, and media appearances
An active driver licence and access to a vehicle
A satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check is required
WORK HOURS
The position will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, flexibility in work hours will be required for events and engagements.
COMPENSATION
The salary for this position is $63,772.80 – $71,344.00 annually. CFY offers a competitive compensation package, including: a health and dental program, employer-matched RRSP and four weeks’ vacation to qualifying employees.
