Choices for Youth Inc. (CFY) is a professional service, youth-focused, non-profit, charitable organization that creates spaces and conversations, and operates programs and social enterprises to help vulnerable youth secure stable housing, employment, and education while improving health and family stability. With a focus on prevention, intervention, and support, we help youth and their families break cycles of poverty and homelessness and transition to healthy, stable, and independent lives.
CFY is seeking one (1) permanent full-time Data and Evaluation Officer to join our Impact Measurement and Engagement (IME) team. The Impact Measurement and Engagement team oversees data and evaluation, research, and community engagement initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the IME Manager, the Data and Evaluation Officer will support CFY’s work in data & evaluation efforts, including but not limited to the continuing development of an organizational data/evaluation strategy, the ongoing administration and support of our client management system (EMHware), facilitating the collection of data to meet the organization’s various evaluation requirements, conducting research to implement best practices in data collection and evaluation, and liaising with programs across CFY to align organization-wide outcomes with program-level goals and indicators. Playing a key role in CFY’s work supporting the development of Integrated Youth Services (IYS) Hubs in rural communities, this role will involve a large degree of collaboration with IYS staff, staff across the organization, as well as other community partners and youth with lived experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the Data and Evaluation Officer requires the ability to quickly learn new topics, engage with subject matter experts, and develop a broad understanding of key issues affecting youth and young families in NL.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Onboarding new staff members as well as IYS staff to the organization’s client management system, EMHware
Supporting new Integrated Youth Hubs emerging across the province. This may include travel within the province anticipated to be no more than two weeks annually
Data reporting on IYS Hubs once operational
Developing new forms and updating existing forms to improve internal data collection processes
Running reports and conducting data analysis
Supporting the training of staff and coordinators in EMHware through the development of training materials and delivering training sessions
Ensuring that data collection is aligned with best practices across the sector while centering the needs of youth & young families
Supporting ongoing review of internal data collection processes to ensure that processes are aligned with data and evaluation strategy, funding requirements, privacy requirements, and strong data governance standards
Monitoring data collection processes and identifying areas for improvement
Conducting data analysis and visualization to support internal and external communications including supporting the development and maintenance of data dashboards
Supporting the development and implementation of impact surveys/reports
Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Psychology, Mathematics, or Epidemiology, Business/Commerce or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A minimum of 1-3 years' experience in data systems management and/or qualitative & quantitative data collection.
Experience analyzing and visualizing data sets
Experience handling sensitive and confidential information
Excellent communication skills, including:
the ability to present technical concepts in non-technical language
Experience working with Excel for data analysis
Excellent interpersonal skills
Experience facilitating training sessions
Ability to work evenings and weekends occasionally as needed
Proficiency in the use of standard office computer hardware and software
ASSETS
Experience working with Client Management Systems Experience working with Information Systems and/or various database structures Experience working in the social services sector
Experience generating documentation/training materials (user guides/FAQs/video tutorials) for users
Experience analyzing provincial and national level data
Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI/Tableau)
WORK HOURS
Regular hours of work for this position are 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week). Flexibility in work hours will be required to accommodate higher work volumes and organizational requirements, including occasional and emergent need to work evenings and weekends.
Hours worked in excess of regular hours will be accounted for in accordance with the overtime provisions of the Personnel, Policy, and Procedure Manual of CFY and the Labour Standards Act NL. The IME team supports a hybrid work environment.
COMPENSATION
The salary for this position will be $48,516.00 to $53,917.50 annually. CFY offers a competitive compensation package, including: a health and dental program, employer-matched RRSP and four weeks’ vacation to qualifying employees.
